Blavatsky and Explorers, Adventurers and Travellers: The Lost City of Z movie

Percy Fawcett

The Lost City of Z, the reviews are in:
It tells the story of the British explorer Percy Fawcett who, in 1925, disappeared with his son in the Amazon while looking for an ancient lost city.

Fawcett’s nameless, shapeless desire slowly gathers mass over the course of The Lost City of Z, acquiring a barely discernible outline — though what Fawcett is truly after is still a mystery by the end. Based on David Grann’s 2010 book about Fawcett (which itself grew out of his 2005 New Yorker article on the explorer), it feels like a movie from an earlier era. http://www.vox.com/culture/2017/4/13/15243584/lost-city-of-z-review-james-gray-charlie-hunnam-robert-pattinson

BOOK REVIEW: The Lost City of Z: A Tale of Deadly Obsession in the Amazon by David Grann (Vintage) 2009 In Grann's book, he talks of "strange papers" found amongst Fawcett's collection, as found by son Brian. Grann writes that in the year prior to what would be his final expedition, Col. Fawcett "filled his papers with reams of delirious writings about the end of the world and about a mystical Atlantean kingdom, which resembled the Garden of Eden. Z was transformed into the 'cradle of all civilizations' and the center of one of Blavatsky's 'White Lodges,' where a group of higher spiritual beings helped to direct the fate of the universe."

However, the freely-distributed magazine stopped publication after eight months. Abduh returned to Beirut and al-Afghani remained in Paris. He secretly gave conferences. He had many guests come and go. The Catholic nationalists sent by his Russian friend, Madame Helena Blavatsky, the Irish revolutionaries, priests, et cetera would always visit him. The extremely mysterious Madame Blavatsky was the founder of the Theosophy Society, which was a supra-religion organization.

The Mysterious Baron de Palm
Some Notes on Joseph Henri Louis, Baron de Palm (1809-1876)
Marc Demarest - April 13, 2017
As Annette Cobb -- likely Annette Amelia Storer Cobb, the daughter of John Storer Cobb, FTS and attorney (and possibly de Palm's attorney) -- was out of the country at the time the will was proved (1878), William Quan Judge attested to Annette's signature on the will. And, at that time, HP Blavatsky attested to Baron de Palm’s signature. All in all, a completely Theosophical affair.
